Awesome, amazing

23 Apr

solar-ring

Last Saturday, I was out in the yard pulling weeds and looked up at the sky and saw this.  This photo doesn’t do it justice because it was a HUGE multi-colored ring around the sun.

My first thought was, “What does it mean?”  Not really thinking of any sort of apocolyptic significance, just wondering if it meant bad weather, good weather……….. what?

So, I googled and learned that this is a solar halo and it was caused by ice crystals in the earth’s atmosphere.  Apparently, this and other very photogenic atmospheric phenomnon are not uncommon during the spring of the year.

Awesome, amazing, almighty God!

Can anyone paint a picture like our God?  This is totally, off the charts, gorgeous.  Did any of you local fellows see this sunset last week?  I don’t remember which night it was, but it was BEAUTIFUL.  I stand in awe at what God can do!  Check out the next three photos.

Salt Lake City

17 Nov

This past week has been a hectic one and this week looks about the same and then Thanksgiving and then……

I think you get the picture.  Time is moving on pretty fast.  We have been back for a week and I am just now getting to look at the photos.  The above is just a sampling of the pictures from our trip to the Xango convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The day (night) we arrived, there was 6 inches of new snow and the taxi driver was playing Christmas music.  It felt like we stepped into a storybook.

The next day we did the corporate tour thing and I got some really gorgeous pictures of the mountains surrounding SLC.  These are just a few of the ones I took.  It warmed up pretty quickly and all the snow disappeared and the storybook setting was gone.  Oh well…….

Xango is an international company and there were people from all over the world.  We sat behind the section for the Norwegians (hence the flags).  We have had the chance to meet and make some super friends through this business.  We were able to meet up with another couple out there from Mass. and had a nice dinner with them.  We also met a very nice couple from British Columbia – its so cool to talk to people from different places.

One of the things we enjoyed was watching the Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearse  (open to the public) on Thursday evening.  They were AWESOME.

Finally, the week was over and we were on the plane headed back home.  I managed to get a picture from the air of the Great Salt Lake.  (I think it looks kinda yucky-not the kind of lake I’m used to seeing)

We arrived home about 12:30 am on Monday morning.  It’s now Sunday night.  Kids have come home and gone back to school.  Church service tonight – special time -prayed for shoebox gifts that will go only God knows where.  Finally taking a moment to catch up on blog reading.  Now, getting ready to start another week!

Capturing a butterfly

Practicing…….

30 Aug

Practicing today, learning to focus at various places, loving looking through the eye of a camera, learning patience because those two little hummingbirds scare away very easily, enjoying God’s creation

another walk……….

29 Jul

Headed to the trail for another morning walk.  Forgot my cd player and my partner for today is in the hospital.  As I pulled up, it was just God and me.  No one else on the trail this morning.  Everything seemed so alive and alert.  Butterflies followed me the entire way!  It reminded me of  a  portion of the hymn “In the  Garden” which is……..and He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own.  And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known.  What an awesome and amazing God we serve!

At the risk of sounding very redundant, God’s creation always amazes me.  I am getting in the habit of taking my camera on my morning trail walk because you never know what little display of splendor or wonder God will reveal on a given day.  I missed capturing a wonderful picture of a little bunny eating some of the greens on the side of the trail and a big fat ground hog before he hurried back to hide.  Here are some pics from this morning that I am enjoying. (Don’t you just love the butterfly, hubbie commented that he was posing for me and he acted like he was!)

By the way, I had to throw in the barn picture, I just have a thing for barns. 🙂
