2 Chronicles 20:12

29 Aug

“For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12).

This verse is from my daily devotion and it has spoken so me today.

It seems as though we have enemies, both spiritual and natural, that attack at every turn.  The worst enemy we face can be the fear of such attack.  We have Columbine and Virginia Tech to tell us we are not immune.  We can become overwhelmed and feel like we do not know what to do.  But, the answer is the same now as it was then–keep our eyes on Him.  It is how we maintain peace in a chaotic world.  He promises if we keep our mind stayed on Him, He will give us perfect peace.  We can trust in that.  We can believe in that.  We can send our children to elementary school, middle school, high school or college and know that the One who created them, still holds them in His hand.  Exercises such as lock downs and drills remind us of the need to be vigilant and ever watchful, but our true protection comes from the One who sits on the Throne.  He is able.   He is watchful.  He is ever present.  He is caring.  He is almighty. He is all powerful.  He is greater than the one of  this world.  He is GOD!

So, when we come to know this with our hearts, we can be assured that we do not have to be afraid—“the battle is not yours but God’s”.  We prepare wisely, knowing that we can be called upon to act, but we can know peace.

God, I pray for the mother of every child today, that she should be assured that these precious ones truly do rest in the palm of your hand.  Help us to hold onto that and experience your blessed peace.  Amen.

Now I have to go or I’ll start crying again.

That verse really spoke to me too. I had emailed that devotion earlier this morning to a dear sister that is going through some tough times. It’s just a reminder that “He ” is in control and we do have to keep our eyes fixed on Him. Love ya’ll.
